I have not posted for some time but I am pleased now with progress. Much of the paintwork done and now building the spars. Had some difficulty finding doweling of the right proportions. Solution came in the shape of an old child's fishing rod; cut that up, just the job. Don't worry the child is thirty something, he wont miss it! Just have to be careful about where to place fittings and the order in which to set up standing and running rigging.

Colchester smack now completed. I have rigged it to a minimal standard and much of it is representative. I have no record of standing and running rigging of this smack before reconstruction began. I have therefore copied layouts of other smacks or in some instances used educated guesswork. Quite happy with the outcome. I found it hard to work at this small scale (model only 36cm long excluding bow spit). I have vowed to work at a larger scale on my next build.
