Hiya guys can anyone tell what i can use to stop copper plates from lifting dont really want to use ca glue.

And can anyone tell me WHO INVENTED RAT LINES and why could they not use a ladder

John, in answer to your first question, I burnish mine with a plastic spoon, and that seems lock them down pretty well. It doesn’t have to be a spoon, but that has a good shape and hardness for applying pressure without scratching or gouging the plates or catching an edge.

Yes my friend just joking just started doing some for the first time
There are a lot of posts here at SoS on rigging ratlines that should be a big help to you. Couple key points are that the plastic loom devices don't work as the shrouds need to be rigged on the model before the ratlines are secured to the shrouds. Also, be sure the ratlines are the equivalent of 1/2" diameter ropes which are much smaller than the shrouds. Clove hitches are the knots used on the ships and they are easy to tie and look best on the model as well.

I use a copper adhesive backed tape for the plates. If you wish you could check out my you tube channel for videos on my method of doing the ratline. Just to be clear, my you tube channel videos are only to assist ship modelers. Subscribing is not something I push.
This is a link to one of the ratline videos.

Have you an allergy to CA, is that why you wish to not use it? I used BSI odourless medium CA on the plates of Victory with no problems, just abrade the underside.
