Hi,

I am having some issues with shaping the stern, does anyone have any good reference images of the CS lower hull? I have looked through google images but there is nothing that shows the lower hull in any great clarity particularly where the planking comes in and meets the rudder post. Anything useful would be a great help.

Thanks

Hi Frank,

thanks for the info. I do have some plan drawings but being in 2D I am not sure that I have interpreted them correctly particularly in how the planking is curved to meet the stern post. I am hoping that someone has some good pictures of the actual ship so that I can better see how the stern should look compared to my model.

take also a look at the pdf where you can find photos of the stripped counter structure - highly interesting

I like this one of the bow very much (not your search I know)

Thank you for the nice images everyone- very useful to reference to.

The problem I'm having is judging how much inflexion is needed on the planks that sweep in to meet the stern post and how they run up to meet the stern counter. The bulkhead spacing is quite large so the planks don't form the nice sweeping curves you see in the images at the moment. I am adding some in-fill and shaping that to give a smoother profile but it is quite difficult to visualise from 2D plans to 3D model the amount of shaping that I need to do.

I think I am going to have to go down to Greenwich and check out the 1:1 original sooner than later :)!
