Deck question (HMS Bounty 1:48)

Hi, first of all, apologies for multiple posts but I found it's best to ask one question per post.
Having just finished my lower deck need to add the upper deck. The instructions don't call for the hatch covers, grating etc. be added until all the rails go on and are planked.
Is there any downside to doing these before fixing the deck?

Note: I think I've mentioned it before but it seems a waste spending so much time on detail that won't be seen. For example at the bottom of the stairs on at the front of the ship (near the stove) is a lower 'planked' deck. It's not much bigger than the hatch but neither it or the stairs will be seen when the top deck goes on. Other detail will only be seen in glimpses.

In the hobby of model ship building, you will need to adjust when parts are added.
If I understand your question properly, I can not say for sure because I have not built that kit, but I would hazard to say that modifying the steps as you asked about would not make a difference. In fact, it might be better.

Thanks, I couldn't see any downside myself and I'd rather not work over the railings for fear of damaging them.

Regarding when to add deck items, I think it is easier if they go on after the deck is laid and scraped smooth. If the head ledges and coamings of the hatches and deck furniture go on first, it will be difficult to finish the deck planking surface.

Is the deck planked as the kit instructs? I may be dead wrong, but I am pretty sure no English ships had a two butt shift pattern as it would be so weak.

Someone else pointed out the problem with two butt issue but Its my first ship and I was following the included instructions. Yes, the top deck has been planked right down to the edge strip to hide the craftwood under the planks.
