Do I need a display case or not?

Or in my case, glazing was only necessary on 3 sides with my HMS Victory cross-section:

And it's far from air-tight, so no holes with steel wool are necessary!
That is amazing ... it gives a better idea of the size of the topsides with respect to the hull than does a complete 3d model. And it takes up very little room on the wall!!

I recently bought a display case from Wayfair for around $300. It’s 48” wide (they have a 60” wide one but it’s a little too wide for me), about 6’ high and about 16” deep. Has nice glass doors that open outwards in front for easy access. The shelves are adjustable and/or removable to accommodate larger model heights. The doors allow for air circulation since there’s something like 1/16” gap between them. It has LED lighting with 6 different colors and also “moving” light effect if wanted. There’s a phone app that supposedly synchs the sound of music with the lights if wanted. Looks very nice. I placed it to serve as a kind of room divider between the living room and dining room. After assembling the unit you mount the glass doors so you don’t have to lift a heavy unit. So far I’m loving it

Hello Everyone,

I am almost done building a very bog model shop, 42 inches ling and 44 inches tall, Occre Santisima Trinidad, I have a question for you gurus!

Do you have to put the model ship in an airtight case? Or you can get away using a dust blower like those small devices that blow air strongly?

I live in high altitude, it is pretty dry here but we have dust, I guess you have dust everywhere! I like the way model ship looks like alone, not in a display case. Please advice1 I spent 3 years building this, so I want to do what is best and what makes sense!
Hi there You have answered your own question 3 years in the making quality for a display unit

In the Queen Ann case, I think that if you loosen 3 screws and remove one, it might be possible to remove a corner piece and work the front off.

You have to put your vessel in a case!! all this work getting dust and dirt? no way!!! my HMS Victory is 40 years old and looks
BRAND NEW! It's the best thing to do to preserve our work, but it's becoming expensive.... in January 2025, the display case made by a ebonist cost me 1500$ Canadian for my Santa Ana.....

I would like a gadget that plays sound/music when someone comes near the display case. Something that sounds nautical, like the sounds I added to this video ...
