Drawing help

Don, I think if you look at the upper right hand cross section drawing, look at the red line drawing just above the keel and there appears to be a larger section in red that appears to be a heaver frame section resting the keel, just what appears to be a seat outline, the double red line, and the lower double red line appears to be the floor boards and the frame would also be the support for the floor boards, both fore and aft. This is the way I see the representation on the drawing. Mikeyt
Except the floor boards are in three levels. The lower double red line you refer to does match up with the lower level and could well be a support but the lower level doesn't extend out to the "X's" we're concerned with. :) I did look at a few more yawl drawings on NMM and I found one with the same "X's". It actually looks like it may be the same yawl but it does have a different ZAZ number.

To everyone, I thank you for your help but since the floorboards and thwarts are in I think we're beating a dead horse as far as this build is concerned. I'm more than happy to keep on discussing this but I just don't want anyone to think that I'm waiting for answers. It would be nice to get a little clarity on how these little boat were constructed but I think that is a hobby unto itself. I've always enjoyed these little boats and after I'm finished the Discovery I think I will spend my time building these little things. Thanks for the help so far.:)

I'll be spending the next few days making six oars. :)

My mistake Don, on the plan view the frame would be as high as you see it. It looked like a sectional view but it's not, after printing it and looking at it more carefully, the frame in the cross section drawing. Never done this before, but I going to try to send you an edited picture of your plan where I scribbled some notations on it as I saw it. Mikeyt

Thanks for that Mikey :). That looks as I thought it would. I believe the "X's" are a cross beam as you say but I'm puzzled as to how the 3 floors relate to them. I put in a floor beam on every other futtock that was near the floor. That put the beams about 2 ft. apart. With 1" floor boards I wouldn't want to go any more than 2' as they would be bouncy I think. I was looking over on MSW and there are a few boat builds using NMM drawings. They seem to be having the same kind of issues. There is a lot missing from these drawings. If you are interested look for "Bounty" boat builds.
