Dutch Hoogaars Fishing Vessel

UrkVisser, I love the new model and look forward to your build log. Like you I love fishing vessels...
Thanks Mike!
The new plane for tapering her mast, boom and gaff arrives in 12 hours.
Then I'll pick up on this project again.

I just received a big order of various supplies for rigging my schooner and paint for my trawler which I gave the second coat today and pulled the masking tape off. Alas there's a lot of touch up to do yet on her.

Best Wishes, UrkerVisser

Hi Everybody!
My little 'Kunz' plane, spare blade plus a nice set of rigging tools finally arrived yesterday. The spare blade only costed me 7,50 € but I just discovered the dealer also has a better 'HSS' blade for it for 20 €.

I have to build a good 'shooting board' and 'V-block' for tapering masts, booms and gaffs but I'm not that far yet anyway.

By the way:
The kit comes with a little plastic bag of powdered wood stain to be mixed with 100 ml water. But it looks too dark so I ordered some oak colored stain instead: 'OcCre - Oak Dye (water based).

The kit's instructions state all the wooden parts are to be stained before gluing them together. But I doubt they mean the decks with their laser plank pattern.

I have my doubts about staining my parts as some parts may get painted instead. I'm also uncertain if water based stain make the gain pop up.

And I was always used 'sanding sealer' on other balsa wood models. What about that or acrylic vanish?

My knowledge of paints, stains and varnishes for model making is very limited. I only know is about building kitchen furniture which I water proofed with boat varnish.

If you have any suggestions I would be very happy.

Best Regards, UrkerVisser
