Sir Ernest Shackleton bought the ship named Polaris in 1914 and renamed it Endurance. He chose the name based on his family motto, "Fortitudine Vincimus" (through endurance we conquer). Maybe not the most thought provoking piece of information, but maybe somewhat interesting for anyone wanting to know more about her. Based on what happened, perhaps not the most appropriate name.I only just realised its actually the Polaris.
