The Question relates to the position of the deadeyes for the front Mast, As we seem to agree they were on a side board and not the rail. I have based my assessment on an old model because I could not find any detailed photos

The stairs that come with the kit are not great. I note that some builders chose to make their own out of wood & this allowed them to install hand rails. I tried to move someway towards this by using the kit brass stairs but adding wood side pannels so that I could install hand rails. THEN :---- I discovered some stairs on ALIexpress at almost the right scale that included side rails. Cheap and not bad. I am quite impressed with them & will use them in lieu of the kit stairs

When you get to my age, you have to be careful. whilst installing the main rigging with deadeyes I moved the main sail too much and broke the connection of the main spar to the main mast. I realize now that I should have made this stonger in the first place. I also broke the connection to the spar lights, This was fiddley and lengthy but it is now up and operating again with a strengenthed flexible connection between the main spar and the mast. Lights reconnected but some tidy up work to do.

Just a little more every night. This is going to take some time for the rigging which is complicated & FIDDLEY

I have reinstalled the steering mechanism with quite a few small modifications. It works but I must admit I sprayed the Chain with CRC. Still I am pleased that it works. Tried a smaller chain but as they get smaller the fexibility decreases so I think what I have got is a happy medium

All the lifeboats now in place. I drew a lot of info from others on this site whilst installing these boats. I will say I am not quite at 100% approval of the work at this stage so I will think some more. Meantime still a lot to do about all the othe items

A bit of cargo struen over the decks and the rigging finished. I just have to complete the electrics. I want to install a sensor in the base so the when a presence is detected the ships lights will come on for 30 seconds

Just about completed the Base for the Endurance. This base supplies the power to the lights (2 x AA batteries at 3 volt). this power source feeds through a sensor that trurns on the power when you approach with 4 meters. if you leave, the power will turn off after 30 seconds. I am quite happy with the result as the ship will be sent to my Grandson (some 3500 km away) he will think this is magic - well maybe not. Kids are not supprised by technology these days. The sensor and Battery holder cost less than AU$12.00 from China
