Evolution of Wooden Boats in the Chesapeake Bay and Eastern Shore Library Window Display, Ocean Pines MD

There's a lot of history in this display. The ship models look like good, clean builds. Much better than I can do. Very well done.
John

Very nice Chesapeake Bay models! I assume they are all scratch-built. That's a couple of years of time and skillful devotion! I can't read the displayed information behind your models, but I have family in Ocean Pines. I'll try to make it down and stop by the library. The Community Center in Oxford, Md usually has a model boat show during the Waterfowl Festival weekend. Will you be showing these (or other) models there by any chance?

I'm a native of the Eastern Shore and was aboard the skipjack Lady Katie several times with Capt. Stanley Larrimore back in the early '80's. I am a retired photojournalist now and he was happy to provide the opportunity for me. He was dredging on the Choptank near Cambridge with about 8 other skipjacks. And I was aboard when he dredged a bar just south of the Bay Bridge along Kent Island. That's the coldest I've ever been aboard a boat, but Stanley had a light jacket and no gloves on at the helm! That's a waterman for sure!
Best Regards! Tim

Nice work. I'm building the Willie L. Bennett skipjack and the Little Choptank Flattie. Love Chesapeake Bay working boats - oyster tongers, crab scrapers, oyster dredgers, buy boats, Menhaden steamers. They're all in my build queue (some day). Keep sharing your work from this important maritime center.

Welcome to SoS and congrats on your builds and display. This would make a great display at the Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michael's or Watermen's in Tilghman.
