Falls of Foyers

Hello Anja,
Yes, the Falls of Foyers does have furled sails. It takes just as much time as having them set, because each one has still to be made and then furled on top of the yards. The hull of the ship was iron, making this type of vessel very unpopular for model shipbuilders.

Metal hull is unpopular, because they can't plank ... or to dificult to mimic/duplicate?

Plating is about 500 times easier than planking, especially in miniatures. Because plating of real ships was done (in the past) with raised and sunken plating strakes, it is only necessary to put spaced paper strips on the hull. Falls of Foyers, being waterline, was plated in about ten minutes!

Making miniatures is really a lot easier than big ones as long as you use special techniques.
