Finished! Dumas Chris Craft. #1249.

If this is your first attempt.....I must say; you have some very gifted abilities to accomplish what you have there. My first rc boat was nowhere near that nice. Of course I was a kid and that was many decades ago. Very nice job. The last one I've done was the barrel back from dumas. Just the first 5 coats of thinned out varnish and sanding, then 5 more regular coats after that and wet sanding (3months) it looked like the final coat was poured glass, just as smooth as glass. You are certainly on your way to many expertly built boat, a job we'll done mate.

Hi Woodpecker,
Thank you for your kind words.
I was toying with the idea of resin but after advice from another expert on here, opted for the varnish.
No, far from perfect but it’ll do me!
Anyway here’s to the next one!

Thanks Steven!
Many, many coats of varnish and sanding.
Loved this build.
If you want to save time on the finish try this. I built a large mahogany boat called the typhoon. I used 3 coats of automotive clear coat. I then wet sanded it and buffed it out. Looks like glass and it's 20 years old. I've done it the other way, this is a about a 6 hour process.
