If you want to save time on the finish try this. I built a large mahogany boat called the typhoon. I used 3 coats of automotive clear coat. I then wet sanded it and buffed it out. Looks like glass and it's 20 years old. I've done it the other way, this is a about a 6 hour process. Thanks Steven!
Many, many coats of varnish and sanding.
Loved this build.
The 1 minute video clip would not load on this site sorry. All electronic hardware was stock parts for motor and battery required for this model. Worked well, turning circle was large, balance ok speed ok. I did not have Barbie at this time. I built a shelf with Velcro tie downs for battery required. Magnets used on hatch. The stern mast is hollow tube with a powered light.Where can I find “Pond Trials?”
That’s great! Looking at the throw on the rudder with mine, I anticipate a large turning circle as well. The 1 minute video clip would not load on this site sorry. Thank you Jim!Great looking model. Several good things come into play with this type of project; you get the enjoyment out of building, it makes a great static display piece for your home, and RC boats are a fantastic past time to spend with friends at ponds edge. If I may one suggestion, lift the engine hatch and put the date of completion and your name on it. You and your family will appreciate it in years to come.
