As i finish the planking i am thinking of spreading a thin coat of Durham's water putty on the bottom. Is that a good idea and should I put some sort of primer on before the putty?

Hi there, when you say "on the bottom" do you mean the bottom of the planks, as an adhesive? Or to serve as "caulking"? Sounds like your planking is in progress so we'd love to hear more context and of course, pictures!
