Hi Elelid,
I wanted to get Flemish coils for my gun ropes too. The method I used was to create a mini turntable, 3cm x 3cm with a 3mm dowel in the Centre. I mounted this in a hole 3.2mm in a small block. On the surface of the turntable I applied double sided #M foam tape. Have some diluted PVA glue ready. Place the thread in the centers and apply pressure onto the tape, then carefully feed on some thread whilst turning the turntable piece. As the tread comes onto the flatened tape surface it sticks and continue until you get the dimensions you want. Once finished winding cover with the diluted PVA glue, allow time to dry and remove from the tape with a sharp blade.

Hi Rob. Great Lesson. All sides of gun tying comlete covered. Thanks a lotHere is a wonderful video from Olha Batchvarov showing her rigging the cannons for a ship. She uses sticky tape. However the trick she uses is to use a round form and coil the rope from the outside in, which I find much easier. I think her video is well worth watching! This is different than Chestcutters method as you go from the outside in.

Thanks...hot it now!HMS Vanguard 1787 1:72 a Victory Models kit
Starting my build of HMS Vanguard. I am impressed by the quality of other modelers on SOS, and hope I can come close to a similar outcome. Posting my build images is a bit anxiety provoking, as I hate imperfection, but rarely make things perfect. I welcome all comments and suggestions. Thanks...shipsofscale.com
