I was looking around some charity shops in my area yesterday and stumbled upon this beauty IMG_8026.jpeg
Looks to me like a 1/72ish scale HMS Victory, however I have no idea which kit this is (if it even is from a kit, or just a custom build) I’d like to finish it however this would be my first ever wood build and I’d like to get the thoughts of some of the members here on this. Some more pictures below:

I’d like some ideas on

- Which kit (if any) this might be
- Where to start with completing it
- Seems the previous builder has colour coordinated the planks to match the gun decks (is this correct/ historically accurate)
- any glaring issues with the model so far I could fix, and how?

If it is the Victory search build logs until you find a post where you can see one at the approximate point of where you are now. However, personally I would need the scale drawings to take this much further. Good luck!

The small number of gun ports in relation to the abundance of windows in the stern seem to be a dichotomy to me unless the original builder meant to cut in the gun ports after planking, which then begs the question how he/she thought they would get the guns in there.

Seems like you have a free hand to use whatever references on period ship building you have available to finish this in any way you see fit and christen it HMS ILUVME.

Nice find.
Looks like Victories Stern.
And yeah it’s weird that most of the gun ports are not cut out.
I would opt to just paint them on a this stage.
I might even forgo the rig and just concentrate on the hull itself.
A lot to learn just finishing this hull.
