French Longboat

Noticed there was a small separation at the aft end of the deck after I installed itIMG_2598.JPGIMG_2597.JPG. I thought I had it all secure but it was a mistake easily corrected. The second image is before glue and clamp

And here is the deck; Holes drilled and filled with wood filler same as floor boards, and then stained. I have made some progress on removing char from the seat beams, but not completed, sanded, stained or installed yet. That"s next. Thanks to anyone who takes the time to see thisIMG_2600.JPGIMG_2607.JPG

I made the escutcheons separately for the five seats indicated in theplans o they could be fitted better when installing the seatsIMG_2611.JPG.IMG_2612.JPG

sorry for the duplication. I detached the jig except for the bottom board with the frames attached, Used the heat gun carefully and sparingly. Inspecting the hull prior to fairing there is one frame on the starboard side which is a bit low and I decided to add a thin bolster rather than try to sand the adjacent frames to match. IMG_2619.JPGIMG_2620.JPGIMG_2622.JPG

Some slow progress. I detached the jig completely and in the process some of the upper ends of the frames broke, careful as I was trying to be. I used a fine saw for some of them and my dremel with saw attachment. I was worried for a couple of days trying to decide if I could salvage the project, and finally was able to glue the damaged frame ends together and reinforce with 1 X 2.5 IMG_2645.JPGmm strips shown in attached photo. Needs some cleanup but they seem solid now and there is no distortion of the previously faired frame. This did not happen on a previous POF model I built but the frames were definitely thicker. Would welcome thoughts or constructive criticism to avoid the problem in the future. Maybe I did a little too much sanding fairing the hull, or my tools were not sharp enough?
