Frigate Neptunus Channels

Looking at the plan of Chapman's Neptunus frigate, I find that it does not indicate the position of the channels. In some boats with the possibility of using oars, for example the Panthere the channels are in a lower position, in others, like L'Aurore in a higher position, more logical considering the ease of using oars. Any thoughts on where the channels should go? Thanks.
