Glue stains

I have had luck using a Q-Tip head soaked in acetone-based nail polish remover to remove CA stains. It will disolve the stain, but leave the wood a little darker. I try to be careful so I am just removing the stain and not the glue holding the wood to the model.
 
Let me throw this one out, although I have never tried it. Gel stains by Minwax and others. I believe they give a semi transparent finish
which might be a solution. Does anyone have any experience with these? I will be having the same issue with my build when I finish planking.
 
While you're experimenting you might try a wood dye (rather than a stain) to see if that improves things at all.
 
I had the same question - could not get the glue stains out. I asked the members of the group I belong to here in Va Beach/Newport news- stain before you glue anything together and then there will no problem.
 
I recommend you go ahead and paint it. Next time, try two part epoxy. I find that the 5 minute type sticks almost anything together and once you get the hang of it, you can do it without getting glue on you. I use a thick piece of glass to mix the epoxy and the hardener on and then clean the spatula and the glass with an Exacto knife.

Here's something that might help? I've done this with just a few very very small strips of wood used to frame the cockpits of WW1 Aerocraft plastic models. Stain the wood before you glue it. It works well for small spots that don't get much view.
