I'd like to know how you paint such small decor witth such straight lines and exacting repeatability in the pattern. Do you do multiple maskings and use an airbrush? If so, what do you use for masking? Or, do you rely on raw skill and steady hands with a paint brush?
Hi, Kurt,
I cut 0.6 mm veneer to fit between the wales, then marked the design, after sanding & priming. Then, using very fine brushes (# 000, 00, 0, & 1, & in places, #2) I carefully painted the design. For the black dividing lines, I used a rule & ultra fine Sharpie. When all dry, I glued them to the hull. For the yellow vertical bars, I used 0.5 mm strip wood.
The 'prow-on' photos show the 'pigs ear' I made fitting the wales, why I missed that one, I''l never know!
