On eBay I found this handy little clamp for holding irregularly shaped objects:

and it only cost 2.52 USD delivered! Is seems solid, all of the threaded parts have either brass inserts or a recessed hex for a nut, and the plastic is some kind of dense, fiberglass reinforced material, Pins can be moved around to fit what you need to mount. It fits solidly in my knock-off Panavise, and has 4 countersunk holes on each side to screw it securely to something else. It is small at 5X7 cm, but that seems to be an advantage for holding tiny things. Listing title is:
