Hello my name is Matthias and I am from Germany. I am just getting into the subject of wooden model ships. The first model I bought was the Albatros from Occre. As I'm running into a few difficulties with the second planking, I'll probably start a thread about it. The experienced members here will certainly be able to help me. I am happy to be part of the community here.

WELCOME TO SoS Matthias!!!
Regarding the planking, whether plank on bulkhead, plank on frame, single layer, or second layer, OcCre does not show how planks were laid on a ship. There are tutorials on line for how to plank a ship model properly and there are many discussions here at SoS, but only if this is important to YOU. The following is part one of 4 parts. It can be applied to single layer or double layer planking.

Welcome to the best forum around the web.

Use time to research the many posts on the ship, use the search tool and input the ships name, the build logs and discussions will show what others have done and what and how they overcome problems with the builds.

Remember if things don't turn out just right, we are all still learning and this is just a hobby to have fun.

Wilkommen, Matthias! Gruesse aus Santa Fe, New Mexico. I have myself finally gotten back to Ship modelling after about 40 years. Have just gotten into building a HMS Endeavor after reading several James Cook books. Plan on honoring him with this model.
