Hi, my name is Bob Halliday and I have been building scale replicas of traditional fishing schooners since the early 1990s. My aim is to find builder's half hull models of schooners and skiffs built for fishing in Labrador, along the coast of Newfoundland and the Grand Banks, then take off the lines and build a model of that vessel. I also make 3D drawings of these vessels using the CAD program Rhino. I belong to a Ship Modeller's Guild in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia. This guild consist of modellers from entry to professional level and we share ideas and building techniques. I first found the Ships of Scale when I was given a kit by a friend that had started to build a model of the Marie Jeanne but had ruined the laser cut plate containing the keel and bulkheads. I wanted to contact the company who produced the kit to get the missing plate so that I could give it to a friend who I am encouraging to continue building boat models from kits. I did contact Service Billing Boats in Denmark and they are sending me the plate. I am to stay in contact with this group.
