Greetings all!
My name Is Dick and I live in Perth Western Australia
I am an experienced ship modeller. I built my first model starting in 2004. I only build from scratch. Sometimes I will use other peoples plans but I have an interest in researching ancient and mediaeval vessels and attempting build them according to the techniques and materials of the time. Vessels I have built in this way are:
The USF Essex at 1/64 scale using the plans of Portia Takakjian (this was my first model)
Le Gros Ventre at 1/48 scale using Ancre plans.
All these builds are documented on another site.
I have an interest in dutch VOC history and shipping but have not yet built a dutch vessel. If I do I will do a log here
Please let me know if you want any info on these builds.
Cheers
Dick

Vessels I have built in this way are:
- A venetian carrack of 1445 . The Trombetta cocha
- A 13th century venetian roundship (nave tonda)with full framing
- Yenikapi12 a small black sea merchantman 9th century
- A hulc. 12th century experimental build using reverse clinker
- A Bronze age mycenaean galley using pegged mortice and tenon planking and sewn construction
