Gun Carriage Recoil Rope Knots

As the thread suggests, can someone please tell me what knot was used to secure the recoil rope to the hull. I have seen a hook through a loop but would prefer to use a knot.

You have to be able to disconnect the gun from the bulwark. In the typical Armstrong cannon configuration, the breeching line is simply looped around the cascabel. Unloop and the gun is free. You can seize the breeching line to a ring on the bulwark for a permanent connection. In the case of the Blomfield gun (like Victory's) there is a loop on the cascabel where the breeching line passes through. Here you need to attach the breeching line to the bulwarks with a hook and ring bolt setup.

You know, it has actually taken three years and two months to finally receive an answer, I had even forgotten that I posted the question. I am afraid to ask another question.
Anyone know what century we're in?
