why one of the floor ribs didn't get nails installed.

That's a good question. Perhaps she plans to fill that space with decorations that will hide the nails. The below image is of the Smithsonian drawings. As you can see there is nothing but a 'bailing-well' in that rear cockpit. The nails would be definitely visible unless she plans to cover them up with misc. gear and goodies.

She shows nails at forward edge , aft edge and aft frame supporting the short planks, but not the frame that is open in the well area, which shows nails in your diagram.

You can't download it; you have to order the entire 16-page plan set from Smithsonian. I purchased the drawings for a scratch-build that I'm currently working on.

Olha did a good job on aft cockpit floor area, but I have questions to ask her on why one of the floor ribs didn't get nails installed.

She showed a second small book with great blown up photos and diagrams of internal details.

Here’s a link for the book entitled “gunboat Philadelphia and the defense of Lake Champlain“. She did a book review maybe a month or two ago and this page is a screenshot from the plan that she showed briefly during the live stream. It doesn’t show the nailing pattern, but I believe she explained during the session that it was typical to nail every other timber to the floorboards. I guess we can always add more nails if we have to.

Aft cockpit finished. I stained the wood with Minwax Driftwood 2126 stain. I want my Gunboat Philadelphia to have that used, dirt look.

I tried the ebony putty for the floor nails, as Olha showed us, but found that the holes alone, when stained, take a dark color. You see that in the images.

2nd deck done.

The tip(s) that Olha tough us on how to avoid the dirty aspect after staining the wood, are great. I tried them in a scratch piece of wood, but, I decided to continue staining the wood directly. I prefer the dirty wood aspect, like the gunboat Philadelphia replicate pictured on my previous posting. This is a personal choice.

The point is that this gunboat was almost new (~2 months old) when it was sunked, so it is supposed it has to have a more clean look. But I love the look of an "old Sailing ship" as you mentioned. I like how a few models of this kit were built with that old look or the images on the kit box. That's why I wrote.... Personal choice.....HAHAHA

One wale added. To bend it, I decided to use my old Italian plank bender. It was just beside the new one that you can find today. And after many !!!!!! years !!!!! I decided to use it. A nostalgic moment .

Wale was stained black alcohol ink to simulate ebony as Olha tough us.

The wales goes 11,2 mm from the top of the bulkheads. To achive a good position, I did the same template that Olha used (the wood cross) and did a pencil line on each bulkhead.

If you plan to do more of this stuff, or work on more than one model at a time get one of 'these' gadgets. I use something similar and love it. No more making new tools for different dimensions.

Ok guys, the Olha FB built group have installed the first 2 planks at the wales sides.

ATTENTION: Olha is modifying the kit, to built the Gunboat as most as we can to the original one. The kit call to place 2 planks above the wales, but the ship plans shows only 1 and wide.
So we inverted the planking. Used one of the kit below wales planks (wider) and the 4 kit above wales planks (thinner) will be used for the rest of the hull. As thosethinner 4 planks aren't enogth for the full hull, we will need to cut the wider planks that provided the kit to plank the hull.
Hahaha... all tha sounds confuse. BUT !!! if you have the kit and plan to build it, you will understand... "clear like water"

Also the planks butt joins position were selected by Olha based on the ship original plans.
