Hello friends,
been busy again this week and making up more frames. I am now 50 % through the frames of the model.

Thought I would start to clean off the laser char on the inside frames and this picture below is the first pass with my dremel rotary tool with a 90 degree angle attachment and velcro rubber fitting with a sandpaper disc. I also used a Proxxon pen sander.

Hi Brian
Both are very handy tools. I used bt dremel on the stand for part of my Triton. The Pensander is an excellent tool which I also used.

Bit of progress today. Been busy assembling more frames and fitting them to the keel.

The kit instructions stated that I was to start making the centre frames and install them first, then work my way out from the centre to the bow and stern.
I was not sure about this, and decided to start at the bow and plank one after the other towards the stern. This way I can determine if I have been tapering the frames in the correct manner. Its my way of constructing the model, perhaps not the correct way, but it works for me !
Anyway, I commenced the stern galley construction. This is the most difficult part of the build so far.

I have to say, not convinced about the building cradle.
Sure, its strong and sturdy and holds everything together firmly, but I am having difficulty seeing if the frames are aligned accurately on the keel.
Also, building the stern galley framework is very difficult and I would think the Harold Hahn building jig would be far superior as a plank on frame format for this type of model.

Oh , thats a difficult question to answer.
The instructions are in diagrams which are easy to follow if you are an experienced builder, but theres been some considerable head scratching on my part trying to figure out the sequence of assembly. I have been able to figure it out after studying the plans and looking at other plank on frame build logs of similar ships.
Most of the written text is in Chinese.

Hi Brian,
Seeing your build on this model pushes me to build on my ZHL RC to get this Caf model as soon as possible.
I admire the plank on frame building and enjoy the realy nice wooden frame construction of the stern.
Keep up the good work, much enjoyable for us as viewers, but most probably more enjoyable to build it yourself.

Been busy again working on the frames and bending up the inner stringers for fitting to the frames which holds everything in place so I can pull the model out of the building jig.
I have been using rubber bands to pull back the top edges of the frames tightly against the framing jig with some additional clamps.

This is my bending jig for plank bending.

Finally finished my frames and cleaned up all the laser char on the inner frames.
I have fitted the inner stringer supports so now I can pop the hull out of the framing jig so I can start fairing the outer hull.

This is really exciting for me. It actually came up really good in my opinion and far better than the pictures of the kit depict on the internet.
This is the current status of my build, but I need to mount it on my new building board and start cleaning up the outer frames.
