I can’t compete with the mass sellers. It makes no sense, but I can offer something different like a request for a young boy operating the tiller on a 1/12 scale sailboat. There is something that just can’t be found unless someone makes it. I was able to make one. The first one of anything IMO is just a prototype that enables me to see how bad or good it comes out. Like right now I made some 1/48 1755 English marine with a rifle and bayonet. It looked great until I started taking off the supports and the bayonet broke off, the trigger guard broke off…everything went to crap in a hurry. The marine looked great, it was just the extra things that make him standout didn’t look so great. So I need to modify some things and I think it will be fine. It’s just figuring out how to do that…I did see the Meshy site and I think this is just an incredible change in the industry. I have been designing boat kits for about twelve years now and have always dreamed of selling figures to go along with my models. Until now, the effort has been just absolutely too much for me. Perhaps I will send my clients your way!
Regards,
Rick
I did the king and queen from 1755 and they looked great. I noticed in my photo tiny bits and pieces, that is shaving pieces from trimming up various areas on the figure. I think they will be fine. Also did the captain of the ship and he looked fine too. It’s just those tiny pieces that print fine but are too delicate.
I just bought a second printer as these runs can sometimes last as long as 6 to 8 hours. The changeover from one run to the next I am working on making it go faster because there is no value added in that portion of the process, it’s just a necessity.
I am open to requests…some I will agree to, others I will need to turn down either because I can’t make it work out or in my mind there are cheaper equivalent alternatives.
