I live in northern Virginia USA. I am building a 1/48 scratch Cutty Sark and am about 3 years into the project. My intention is to model her as built in the tea trade. I am a former model railroader.
I have pictures but not organized yet. I am still working on the hull but feel I am making progress.

Welcome to SoS Mac. Hope to see some photos of your build in the near future. :)

Welcome aboard. I built the Cutty Sark several years ago and considered it one of my best models.I am now rigging the mizzen of the
Flying Fish, tea clippers are fun challenging models to build and
to me are a gem when completed. Enjoy your build, I will be 93
this coming December. I have also built the Flying Cloud .

Gettings from Massachusetts. You will find quite a lot of us senior citizens on SoS. You have a few years on me as I turned 74 in July and have only been on SoS since this spring. People and companies are very helpful on this site. I have personally stolen some ideas I found from SoS Build Logs. Looking forward to seeing your photos and progress. I'm currently building a Bonhomme Richard Cross Section kit by Unicorn Models.

Wow! 93 years old and still building ships. Glad to meet somebody older than me for a change, just turned 83 and that's old. Ha!.
I have a 1;78 Cutty Sark about half built and there should be a build of it here up until I started the Great Republic about a year and a half ago. There's a build of that on here too. I do like to see other scratch built square rigged ships on here and I've learned a lot from the other members about building them. Looking forward to pictures of your Cutty Sark build. You can find mine on SoS by looking up "Norgale", that's me.
Welcome to the forum. Norgale

My first introduction to the Cutty Sark was in the mid 60's when I built the Revel model while stationed in Germany. The only thing left is the hull which I have hauled around with me for years. This is my 3rd Cutty Sark build and I will try to post a picture.1000004300.jpg
