Hi, my name is Luc,
Originally from Germany, now living in France. Build the Independence from AL in ´23-´24 and got lots of inspirations from this site, so I guess I should join it.
Currently working on the Santa Maria from AL (the new kit) but a bit dissapointed by the kit, lesser quality of wood and Plans. Should have gone for the old kit, but now I´m stuck with it. Will try to make the best of it. We´ll keep in touch.

Sorry to hear your not happy with the quality of the AL kit.

If the kit is somewhat disappointing, sorry to hear that, you might try some "kit bashing" .. try to go beyond what the instructions tell you. Use the kit as a kind of basis for the model, making any necessary improvements yourself. Going in that direction will probably improve the satisfaction you get out of building.
