Hello from down under

Hello guys - Finally after few years in progress (long OFF/ON periods) I have finally finished my first ever ship - The 1/100 Halcon. Got it from Aliexpress, only one page of instructions etc. Lucky for me I found a build log of a guy from Russia - whom I tried to follow. I let my imagination to run freely, so all in all I am very happy with the result taking t o account this was my first ever ship I have built.

Now starts the next project - the Heller HMS Victory.

P.S - I post the picture here - if there is s better place to put it - please let me know. Cheers

Hi Isaac,

69 year old residing in Silverstream, Hutt Valley New Zealand. Like you I have acquired the 1/100th Heller Victory Kit. Also have sourced a number of photo-etch and 3D resin parts for this kit from a http://www.dafinismus.de/. Note Daniel the creator those parts has his own thread on this forum which shows his construction of the Heller Kit and also the use of the additional enhancements he has developed and now sells. I have also collected a number of HMS Victory reference books, including The Anatomy of Nelson's Ships and HMS Victory Her Construction, Career and Restoration amongst others. After spending 6 months collecting parts and reference books hoping to make a start on the ship this Winter. Happy to help, just reach out to me.

Kind Regards
Frizzup (Philip)

Hi Philip,

Thank you for your post.

So good to know I am not alone down under with this project... I have seen this ship in a toy shop in Nelson (I reside in Wakefield - a bit south of Nelson) for about half price - so I could not resist... however after some reading I fear I maybe took a too big of a challenge - but I am ready to jump in, knowing it will take me years to finish - which in a way is a good thing I guess.

It will be a very long project because I have no previous experience with airbrush painting, and no knowledge about many of the parts and their naming (Marine language I guess) so I will have a very long road ahead of me - however I am thrilled to start the journey.

Yes, I have seen many people recommend Dafi's plates and parts - I am pretty sure I will use some of them or perhaps all... will see how it goes.

I am 72 years old almost, retired and apart of ship building I am busy with flight simulation.

Will be in touch soon.

Cheers
