Hello everyone So I am a little 62 year old cabin boy.:)

My first model was about fifty years ago, the Santa Maria from Heller I think, all plastic.

I had finished it without painting it because there were no paint pots with it...

My father told me: we will paint it later but after it is still harder. In short it remained all black with its beautiful white plastic sails and my goodness from the height of my ten years I was rather proud .

It was the only model created by my little fingers.

In my twenties, I played the diatonic accordion and with friends we were in sea shanties.

I was a fan of the group "Cabestan" among others also without making a model the heart was always a little carried away .....

Retirement is coming in a month so I said to myself that (re)making models would be a nice way to occupy one's time by listening why not some sea shanties ...

I am rather handyman at home and I like working with wood and I make lots of stuff. I am a fan of DIY.

Well my wife said to me: it's true that you are a good handyman but ... are you meticulous enough for models? Redface

There you go the gauntlet is thrown and the challenge is accepted.

I ordered from AL a model for beginners: HMS Bounty's (Jolly Boat) 1:25.

I started it 2 months ago but it's not finished yet.

I register here to share with you my naval adventures and especially to learn with those who will want to help a little cabin boy who has just embarked..... Thank you for taking the time to read.

See you soon on the shipyards ....

Welcome. I soent three years with NATO 72-74. What I had to overcome was the prejudice of English ships over French vessels-until learned French bottoms were used and admired by the English navy

Welcome to you "little cabin boy." One thing that serves very well to show your current work is pictures. We like pictures and lots of them. They also serve to explain any trouble you may encounter with your build. It helps, too, to start a thread just for you and a project so that if someone is trying to find it they won't have so much to go through to find it. So, start a thread just for you and the Jolly boat, post a bunch of pictures of your work and enjoy the camaraderie of your fellow members along with the light hearted joshing that goes with it. We also have tons of experience available here for free just for the asking. Enjoy!

I hope you will not give up before you start, I am 87 and made the AL "Endeavour" completely during covid, it took me 16 months but I am thrilled with it, tying all the shroud ratline knots, 1,040 of them, and did the full rigging and sails. The detail is extreme but the AL kit is brilliant, and I think you would be meticulous enough to do a good job. I wanted to keep the dust from the model so ordered a clear plastic display case which keeps the model clean and is safe and very visible. This forum is also extremely helpful. Best wishes!
