Hello from Kemah, Texas. I am new to this forum.

I built many model ships and airplanes in my youth, and 50 years ago, when I was stationed in Germany, I built the Adler von Lubeck Danish man of war, and the Wasa.

I'm now 84 years old and I recently lost my wife, so I need something to fill the the hours.

I ordered the Occre 12005 HMS Beagle, which should arrive next week.

I have been looking at this forum and expect it will be very helpful.

I am looking forward to picking your brains when I run into problems.

I live in Kemah TX, and I'm trying to find a decent hobby shop for tools, parts and supplies in the area and haven't had any luck yet. Looks like I might have to get everything online.

Welcome to the forums !
There are a lot of people on here that are glad to answer your questions.
Just keep in mind that they are many different ways to accomplish something, so what they tell you all of the methods will work, you will need to pick out the one you want to use. :)

Hello Cliff, welcome. Has your Beagle arrived? I'm just about finished with first layer of planking on my Occre Beagle. Slow progress! I'm sure you will enjoy it whether you kit bash or build straight from plan :).

Yes it came a couple of months ago and I’m progressing slowly. I’m at the point now where I just finished the life boats and I’m getting ready to attach them so it’s been very interesting so far.

Welcome aboard from Connecticut! You should consider starting a build log so others can follow your progress. It is also easier to answer any questions that pop up. The Beagle sounds like an interesting build.
