Long time model builder.
Going on 55 years a model builder.
Professional model builder and repairs for the past 27 years.
All manner of building and repair.
Plastic, wood, metal.
Boats mostly but have rebuilt dollhouses.
I build from photos, plans, anything that would help.
I also have radio controlled boats which is a nice break from static models.
For me it’s been a world of boats.
Worked for a time as a merchant mariner off shore on 600’ oil tankers.
Delved into ship and boat design for a few years.
Got into boat building full size boat and that morphed back to ship model work.
So boats of all shapes and sizes I’m comfortable in.

Welcome Jerome.
Sounds like you belong here at SoS.
I and I’m sure other members would love to see some of the work you have done. Also what projects are in the shipyard at present.
Looking forward to your helpful tips and suggestions from your extensive experience.

Here’s some of my current and past projects.
These are from left to right.
3 masted schooner in need of a new rig.
Wm. Pyre, steel construction, in need of rust removal.
Gypsum Countess, scratch built from photos.
Robin Moor, scratch built, 1st ship sunk at the start of WW2
Corsair 2, an old Pyro plastic kit
Side paddle wheeler that needed a lot of repair.
Tugboat, scratch built for an O scale model railroad.
M/V Cresty, repair for Canfornav shipping.
Nukumi, scratch built for Canadian Steam Ship lines.
HayVal, scratch built for the boat owner.
Ideal X, scratch built for a Kings Point project.
Mr Darby, a Dumas kit. This is one of my rc boats.
Barnegat light ship. Scratch built in 40 day from photos.
7 models of a 10 model award from the US Merchant Marine Academy @Kings Point.
Those models are USNS Comet, USNS Bob Hope, USNS Mercy, J. Pierpont Morgan, Exxon Valdez, Manhattan, Erna Elizabeth. Along with Maersk Alabama, Ideal X and Seatrain Texas.
Kind of proud of that project though it took 3 1/2 years of full time work.
