Hello from Northern Germany

Thanks to all for the warm welcome and the tips provided for choosing the first kit. The result is …. tataaaa … quite surprising even for me. What happened? Well, running through my kits from my plastic modelling period, that I still have in my shelf, I literally stumbled into a kit, that I must have got some 15 or 20 years ago - the famous (or infamous) HMS Victory Cross Section 1:98 by Corel. I know there is or has been a lot of discussion regarding accuracy, historical correctness and overall quality of the kit. My very own conclusion is: there is possibly nothing I can do „wrong“ and therefore its kind of „now or Never“. That makes it somehow perfect for me. . My goal with this kit is solely getting used to work with wood as a model building material - the sanding, cutting and glueing and to choose the right tools for the right job - before I leave the shallow waters of building „just a kit“ and before entering the deeper waters of real shipbuilding. I dont know, if some kind of build log could be of any interest on this background. If so, I could provide some photos and may be some insights in a newbies first steps towards learning to walk before trying to run.

Kind regards
Lars

A build log is a great showpiece. Mine are filled with "OOPs", problem solving, aid from from other builders and just great back and forth discussions. So the aswer would bees, create a log and go for it.
