Hi all. I’m not new to model ships as I’ve built 4 since I was a teenager, but I started up again after a hiatus of many years. My current project is the Model Shipways Essex - the famous yellow box version (1:96 scale). I started this back in 1984 and worked on it for a few years before I got frustrated with the tiny mullions of the quarter windows and put it on the shelf for 35 years! I started up again this past August, got over the hump and have been enjoying working on this since then. Currently, I’m working on the lower shrouds before installing the upper masts. For me, the big difference between the late 80’s and now are internet resources like this forum, YouTube videos, and specialized online retailers.
