Greetings all! Thanks for letting me join SOS. I am a retired mechanical engineer and a fairly competent contemporary woodworker. I routinely use a CNC router, 3-D printer and laser cutter in my projects. The laser piqued my interest in plywood models kits from makers like Ugears, Rokr and Wood Trick. Fun with those kits got me thinking about trying the “ultimate” kit; a wooden ship. I eventually would like to build something like the Mayflower or the Black Pearl but decided to start with a Model Shipways/Amati 1:100 Bluenose that I picked up on eBay. I am not sure when I will start the project...I have several traditional woodworking projects that I need to finish first. I have been enjoying reading the build logs in my spare time. I can see that I will need a few new small tools and that I need to learn some ship jargon! Thanks again.
