Hello, my name is Henry Brown form Barling Magna in Essex, UK.

Ahoy there. Thank you all for your kind welcomes. Barge, yes. Its a Billings kit originally - The Will Everard Thames Barge. I thought I'd change it a bit to an engined barge and improve it where I can, the kit details were was a bit duff. It will become the mighty "Archie", 1/72 instead of 1/87 (?) and its cargo will be our poor old Border Terriers favourite toy bone as a cargo and a memorial. We live on the Thames so there's lots of barge references and for a challenge it will be a static model of a motorised Thames Barge with a different rig. By changing the scale it will become smaller if you see what I mean, and you can get lots of bits for it in that scale. Thank you for your interest ! H

Welcome Henry, you'll find this forum is quite friendly and full of helpful information and support.
I have built that Billings kit, Will, and some other thames barges. The Will kit was curious as it is the only kit I've encountered that builds the hull in two longitudinal halves and then joins them along the middle. It works for models, as I show here.

Thank you Jim. I should have said near the Thames - actually its the Roach which is mostly mud but the Thames is just across a bit... We have a wrecked WW2 concrete ammunition boat in the creek. Cheers Henry.

Thank you. I was trying to figure out posting my little barge project for help and comments. I was interested in what you said about the two halves of the hull. This is my first ship model and I assumed it was common to do this. I've built a few scratch aircraft models and they are split down the middle usually. Interesting photo, especially the rigging. Scary stuff.
