Hi, I am Slobodan, living in Belgrade, Serbia. Thanks for adding me to this fine group.
I Got infected with wooden ship modeling as a kid when I made my first one - Ragusian Carrack at the age of 13.
Currently finishing the last rigging on San Giovanni Batista galleon while doing a "scratch building" of Black Pearl model, along with finishing a few other models. One of those who prefer making ships in a scratch building rather than from kits while maintaining old techniques (and materials) of coating/ painting / staining and weathering models to look more authentic and realistic.

It would be great if you can post some photos of your work, is I and many others would like to see them.
Your are correct when you said the model ship building is a sickness. I've also have been infected by that bug, and I'm so glad that I was.
My wife had other ideas though.
