Hi there, 45/F from the San Francisco bay area and have been a long time plastic modeler mostly doing airplanes, but a year or so ago I was in a slump and my mojo was nonexistent, so I decided to remix this business and try something new! I've always been fascinated by tall ships and elaborate model ships and decided to start with the 1/24 scale Model Shipways Muscongus Bay Lobster Smack (help I cant stop thinking about this as a wrestling move...) Well it took me a year but little by little it lifted me out of my slump and I had such a good time building it and especially rigging it (its really that perfect balance of frustration and jubilation when it works!). Anyway, I think this is going to become a thing for me.

In fact I've already bought and started my next ship, the 1/48 scale NYC Pilot Boat Phantom.

Here are a couple photos of the completed wrestling move... or sailboat I forget which haha.... and a couple of my other models I'm particularly proud of. Looking forward to learning!

Welcome aboard! You "Smack" looks great and well done on your plastic models! Looking forward to more building from the Bay Area!

Welcome from Massachusetts! Thats a great looking Smack! The planes are impressive. How did you find transitioning from plastic to wood? I hope you'll post a build log of your pilot boat.

The main thing ive found is that expected to not have to be as precise with wood because wood just isnt that precise to begin with, but quite the opposite, you have to be even more precise or the errors start to stack up.

I do have a build log going but im at the planking stage so updates will probably be slow ;)
