I found a decent deal on Birchwood Casey Brass Black, but I have a question. I saw/read somewhere that Jax Pewter Black works on the white metal found in kits, but does the Birchwood Casey Brass Black do the same? (I have some white metal belaying pins in my Mamoli Black Prince kit that need blackening).
I don't want to spend the money on Jax Pewter Black if the Birchwood Casey will do the trick, but I don't want to waste my money on the BC if it doesn't work on the white metal pins. Thoughts?

Jax Pewter Black (2 oz.)/(16 oz.)

I did some experiments with some white metals the Casey Brass Black (I was experimenting with some jeweler wire). It would not blacken the wire, no matter what method (soaking, brushing). For fun, I left one type of wire in a bit of solution overnight and it was gone in the morning.
