Im Mary and have a ship model collection at the Buckler's Hard Shipyard Trust, home to the 18thc shipbuilding village in Hampshire, UK where 55 ships were built for the Royal Navy between 1744 and 1815. We have some wooden ships models in need of a few repairs in our museum collection, just in case there is anyone out there who would like to pop over and help me out. Check out www.bhshipyardtrust.org.uk and www.bucklershard.co.uk

Hi Mary, welcome to the SOS group. We know from our membership lists that you have many very skilled ship modelers in the UK. Good luck in your quest to find help. I know how important it is to a maritime museum to have qualified help in maintaining a model ship collection. The club I belong to had made arrangements to clean and repair the model ships in the maritime collection of the Carnegie Museum in Port Huron Michigan. In return for our assistance the museum gave the club a room to hold the monthly meetings in. Perhaps you could check around and see if this type of arrangement would be beneficial to you. Like so many others on this site I am a bit far away to help out.

Glad to be of any help. I live just down the road, and I have replied to you by email. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Mary, good idea to post a request on this excellent site. Let me know when "Weasel" appears as I should like to meet him or her. You might also try the Solent Radio Control Scale Model Boat Club. I know the chap who runs it. They are based around Bornemouth and meet for sailing near Brockenhurst. Ian.

Hi Mary, good to see you here!

Fred
Thanks ..how about a visit this year to BH?

I have arranged to meet Mary and discuss with her exactly what I may be letting myself in for. If I find I am out of my depth , I hope SOS will help me out with any problems. If there are any others in the New Forest area of the South of England who may also be interested I would like to hear from them.
