New to this forum , Great info available on it . I am not new to model making as i have done some kits in the past , But i am not very good at it and just starting the Endurance occre kit  I have been 51 yrs in the Merchant Navy and still going but not for much longer . Cheers Dai

Welcome to the forum Dai.
After 51 years of service you have certainly deserved the right to retirement and free time for model making.
Starting a build log will get you assistance if needed and some extra motivation. Cheers, Herman.

WELCOME TO SOS. There are a few of us here that sailed in the merchant marine, so we have some common interests although I am sure it is totally different today than when I sailed back in the '60s and 70s. :) Good luck with your build.

Its shrunk to nothing now , Very few ships with Brit crews and the laughs have gone ,I am just rock dodging on the coast now , last deepsea trip was actualy down to Antartica on the JCR .

There is a long history of model ships being made aboard ship to fill in the boring hours. I guess that nowadays all that is replaced by permanent satellite access to television and DVD's though.

Always a welcome at SoS though.

I never really thought about that. When I sailed it was books, painting, or ship modeling for many of us. Not sure which is better, Guess both are great, just different times to think about.

never had satelite tv just the internet and it wasnt up to streaming really , it was just reel to reel films back in the day and piss ups in the bar and grea .t runs ashore

Welcome aboard from across the pond! Would love to see a build log of your Endurance model.
I would be a bit shy after seeing the builds on here , I am doing the first planking now , I already made a mistake with the decking but i fixed it
