Hello everyone,
My name is Peter and I live in the Netherlands. As a fresh retiree, it was finally time to start a new hobby, and building a wooden model ship seemed like a lot of fun.

After some searching, I came across the OcCre Santísima Trinidad (ST) and thought it would make a great birthday present. I still have to wait a little while, though, as my birthday isn't until late May.
This will be my first project, and luckily I have plenty of time to do some research. That’s how I discovered that the kit of the ST is available from both OcCre and Artesanía Latina.
Personally, I prefer the colors of the Artesanía kit, but I wasn't sure what the original colors were. At page 26 of Volume V of The Royal Navy, a history from the earliest times to the present by Sir William Laird Clowes, he quotes the Neptune’s Captain William Stanhope Lovell as saying of the Spanish ships: “some of them were painted like ourselves – with double yellow sides; some with a single red or yellow streak; others all black; and the noble Santisima Trinidad, with four distinct lines of red, with a white ribbon between them….”
So, my intention is to follow the colors from Artesanía. Besides the color scheme, I think I will also make some modifications during the build.
Unfortunately, I have to wait a bit longer before I can actually get started, but as soon as I begin, I will start a build log to share my progress.

That's it for now, and I will be back later!

Peter welcome to SOS forum and I have to admit, for a beginner, ST is a very ambitious start.

Welcome to SoS. It is great to read that you are interested in research, it can be as much fun as the build itself.

Hi KAYA,
Thanks!
Indeed quite ambitious, but I like challenges.
And as an American general said; no guts no glory ;)
On SOS, I found some videos about planking, and I'm not worried about that part.
For now, the main concern is making the masts. I haven't found videos yet.

Hi Peter. Welcome to the SoS. Starting a build-log is a good idea. Besides your progress you can post your questions and for sure you will get in no time some answers.
Regards / groetjes, Peter
