Welcome to the fray. Being a relatively new member myself, I am sure you will enjoy your time here.
Many of us probably took on too much the first go around, including me, but I bet most, if not all, of us had fun along with the frustrations. Mine was the Victory from Mantua plans which were available without the kit even at that time (I could not afford the kit :( ) Learned a lot but I did not get any smarter as I did it a second time! The second attempt was much better and it is still in the family 45 years later. One of the best things about our hobby is that we can continue to learn and improve no matter how many models we have built.

What the heck happened? Someone hack into Cylixplepm's post and rewrite it? I'm no prude, but this is not good.
 
EDIT, Looks like the hacked pornography post got fixed but someone quoted it in post #12. :(
