I am having some problems understanding the assembly of the deck beams. On page 11 of the instructions there is a picture of a typical frame, in this case frame #10. It shows the laminates for creating the actual deck beam. Very clever as I am sure that scratch builders spend a good deal of time cutting in the notches. The other part of the picture shows the hanging knee, and the lodging knee assembled to the deck beam. On page 8 of the instructions, it shows the application of what is being called the thick stuff. Not sure but the strips supporting the deck beams might be called clamps, just not sure. In any case, the problem is the deck beam as shown on page 11 will not fit without notching the hanging knee. I don't understand how this could be if a prototype of the model was built before production. There are several build threads on the website, and I have gone through them several times. They are very credible builds, and it seems that they also saw the problem and cut notches in the hanging knees.
Could someone help me out with this. I built the lower deck as best I could, notching the hanging knees. In most cases, the notch made the difference but almost none of the hanging knees follow the curve of the frames and in many cases, multiple notches needed to be cut. Before I start on the gun deck (upper deck on the plans) I need to get my mind clear as to what needs to be done. I find the notching very disturbing.
Any help or suggestions are welcomed.
Thanks for looking.
