Sometimes it’s an endless pain to look at your work and realize that the enthusiasm I had 30 years ago is gone.
There is still much work to make her ready, some carvings, guns that must be rigged, headrails, planking deck etc.
Maybe when I get my pension about 7years from now thats depressing though?
It’s like that? ups and downs like everything.
I try to get inspiration from others work, reading books and ship-plans I have collected through the years and wondering what the next project will be??
A dangerous thing to do before you have completed the main project.
Sometimes I want to get back to the basic model building and not so pretentious in everything i do.
Just to have fun with a relaxing hobby.
There is no building log really on her.
Started this project back in the 90th.
All of it is made of limewood(linden tree) the keel structure is elm tree bulkheads ply

Very good work - it would be a pitty, if she would never be finished

For some inspiration and motivation:

Your work is stunning! It would be a shame if you never finish the HMS Diana!

wonderful work!

by the way, who is the blonde with the heavy eye make-up? ;)

It is extremely hard to build and complete these ships by yourself.
What can I say?
Pleasure in the making or the display?
Take a break
Look at her
Bit at a time.

I made a semi scratch built model that took me 2 years. I had a break of 1 year, afterwards.

I know retired people who worked on the ship as if it was their full time job. 2 years is on average.

What to say?
You do this for the beauty and dexterity.

Some have 2 dissimilar hobbies or models on the go. Like me working to DIY projects, moving house … I choose very small models but boy o boy year or two to complete + mood.
Mood is they key - I eat to practice carving to tinkering with old metal toys + gardening + growing vegetables: the shovel gives me focus / clears the head - especially when you hit the toe or shoe fails!

Find you peace, accept and 1 bit at a time.
+
Forget time.

My advice.

It's a true masterpiece so far. Hold on and do finish her. It doesn't take much for an awsome admiralty display at least, judging by the pics. Congrats for your amazing craftmanship anyway!
