This is the second installment of my Occre Endurance. I finished the planking, then applied a coat of Watco oil and air brushed the hull with Tamiya semi-gloss black. The white is also Tamiya. The stained pieces are dark walnut, not happy with the look. The white strips around the hull were difficult to attach around the transom and finally had to use a few small nails to hold in place. the photo etched brass attached to the bow, if that's what it is, also required a few nails to keep it in place, the glues I tried would not hold it fast.

I have decided to not use the stanchions provided and purchase them from Harbor Models for $95. I think it will be worth it. As. you can see I am finishing up the deck detail work, deadeyes are fastened, for them I use a black sharpie to make them look darker. I also am not using the provided blocks and purchased those from Syren Ship Models as I will also use their rope. Really dislike the fuzzy stuff provided. Traveling next week so will take a little time off. I just ordered the Trinidad from Art Lat and will start a building log with that once it arrives and have the time to start it. I also am building a Wingnut Wings biplane and have a HO model railroad. The RR is 1940s era Northern Pacific. Plenty to do during these winter months.

I have now finished all of the deck furnishings, the provided stanches were replaced with those from Harbor Models and were worth the $100, I decided not to paint them even though most of the models I have viewed were white. The life boats were challenging to make and to attach. The final stage now are the masts, sails, and rigging.

I have a bit of a gap since my last posting as you will see. I have completed the Endurance and am pleased but as always felt there could be improvements which is part of the learning process. For this kit I replaced the railing stanchions, the blocks and ropes and the deck is cherry wood. On a side note I was in San Diego last month and visited the Maritime Museum. They have several tall ships which can be boarded and a fun experience. Now that I am down with this I can spend more time the the Art. Lat. Trinidad which I also have a log on. Hope you enjoy the video.
