HMS Enterprise 1774 POF 1:48.

Good evening from a beautiful autumn Melkbosstrand.
I broke the last 2 of my 0.5mm drill bits in quick succession so now I wait…..ordered 10 so hopefully will see me through.

In the mean time I decided to construct the quarter deck WC cabin…….I truely ran into a deep pile of kak.(Pun intended ;) ). Swear jars overflowed. ROTF ROTF . I must have screwed up my measurements somewhere (very marginal) however this meant everything had to be adjusted, trimmed and some “Grantisms” created.

Started making a mess;

Luckily the look through is limited as the inner was pretty hacked…

I planned to leave one window out however cover up was the name of the game:

There is glass on the inside and I deliberately left some finger marks on them but we still don’t see the glass much….ROTF

This is where I am at :

Progress will continue …hmmmmm

Beautiful. Simply beautiful !

This construction isn't that easy so I think it turned out pretty great, Grant!
Thank you kindly Paul. I didn’t get the look and feel I was planning for as somewhere I made a mistake. What I do know is I did not take the curve effect into my initial measurements so had to rip off and redo. My deck beam may also be out by a mm or my wales or my transom, or, or,…..ROTF as I was constantly adjusting for this tiny margin……Eish. ROTF. I am still happy with the outcome tho. I am loving this kit as it is not a “plug and play” version however it increases the risk for error and some “Grantisms” :D. Cheers Grant

The outside looks superb...who's gonna crawl into the head to see the inside!!

Thanks for sharing the detailed photos.
Good morning Brad. Thank you for the compliment. I am happy with the outcome however it became a cover up project for the rather sad structural work…..I definitely had the most fun with this tho…..Cheers Grant
Beautiful. Simply beautiful !
Thank you very much indeed Neil.

sorry to hear about your problems with the drill bits but think now much the money from the swear jar will help with your next vacation ! :)
As always, your build is positively stunningly beautiful !
Thank you kindly Jeff. Yep the admiral and I could take an overseas trip with the money in those swear jars ROTF .
You must have had a good recovery, I didn't see anything wrong. That last picture looks fantastic.
Good morning Daniel. One of my best cover ups yet.ROTF. If we peel back the outer layers the inner structures would give you nightmares……I’m very happy with the outcome. Thanks for the kind words.
Cheers Grant

Yes, that all stern was a bit tricky....but yours looks far better than mine!

Good morning Paul. Tricky is being kind ROTF . I have been brainstorming where I went wrong with the measurements on the hull. Everything seems in order other than I used 2mm cherry planks vs the 1.5 (which I cut as the kit didn’t provide for cherry on the bulkwarks) and I think this added that extra mm which meant all the parts provide had to be adjusted. As you know the windows are also oversized and i battled to create the consistency in my trimming. I also broke one when cutting the windows out which became way more difficult than I expected- I had plenty of fun tho- for me this is not an easy kit. Cheers Grant

Great job, the feed is the hardest part, you're doing a good job
Good morning Sergey. Thank you most kindly. I am happy with the outcome so smiling again:D. I really admire you guys who get every join and finish looking so clean and neat. Cheers Grant
Great work!!!
As always Shota your encouragement is appreciated.
Cheers Grant

Hi Grant, superb work!

Apologies, I have not been keeping up with a few builds* that I am following so I decided to spend a few hours just catching up! Very impressive, such a lot of detail work. I empathise with you on the number of tree nails you are having to do, I am in ratline hell at the moment!

* I must look into the notifications settings because I have not been receiving some from people that I am following, including yours. All the notification buttons are ticked, and I have SOS as a "safe sender" so that they are not going into a Spam folder by default. I had this problem before following an upgrade to my computer but I sorted that out so ?? as to why stuff is going missing.

Beautiful, Magnificent ,and all the other praising words
love your work.
Cheers
Guy
Good evening Guy. Thank you kindly- much appreciated.

Good evening Dom. Thank you for the compliment. I find some of the guys I’m following also drop from my notifications. I am not sure why this happens. Nails vs clove hitches……monotony personified ROTF . Cheers Grant

Good morning. I’m going to have to increase my SOS time as there is plenty activity here at the moment- very cool.

We are baby sitting my “grand puppy” for a while while Ashtyn and Micheal are on holiday in Mozambique.

Not much to show you guys - more cannon trunnions and caps and tree nailing continues now I have my 0.5mm drill bits.

As always nothing is complete and all dry fitted. I just need to show you guys work is continuing.

Hi Grant, I seem to have sorted out the notification issue, this post arrived OK. To solve I "unfollowed" then went to your log and clicked "follow" again. That seems to have resaved the notifcation setting properly. I have done the same for all the builds I am following, so hopefully everything is reset now.

Dom

Oh boy, you and your grand-pup strike a very cosy picture, Grant! I'm sure he/she doesn't mind at all spending some time with grandpa. The cannons look superb - I know I have said it before, but this ship just radiates warmth through the wood-finish you have selected. Stunning, my friend!
