HMS ENTERPRISE by Keith 1:48 scale. New Kit from M.D.

FWIW, should your paint option go off the rails give strong consideration to Vallejo paints. Infinite color choices, can be brushed direct or thinned, water based, pigments are great, usually single coat coverage, zero brush strokes, if you screw up perfect color match, available all over US.
I brush it or air brush it, just great to work with.

This, for instance, was earlier but one coat plus a few touch ups.

Another milestone reached. She's out of the cradle. Quite easy really. And as a testament to the accuracy of this kit, this is it with absolutely no work to the outer hull as yet., just care when fairing the ribs. Also there is now room to do what was discussed in my last post. The tapering of the head. The excellently detailed CNC boxwood figurehead is roughly fitted. I'm going to some work with staining and a dark wash to bring out the detailing. The stern gallery artwork is even more spectacular. Can't wait to get round to that. But that is some time away yet. Really pleased with the result

I have a question. Did you build the building board you transferred the model to? It’s hard to believe there’s a build board kit big enough for this model.

Thanks for the info. The paint look great. I tend to use Admiralty acrylic paint from Cornwall Model Boats based in the UK. They too have an excellent range of water based products.

No. This is an adjustable keel clamp I bought years ago and have used on many builds. Can't remember now where I got it, but yes it is the perfect size for this kit
